Our Websites Split!

As some of you may have noticed, for the past couple of years if you went to likelylads.co.uk it redirected you here, to nottoofussed.com. But a couple of weeks ago we set up a new website using Tumblr, which now sits at http://likelylads.co.uk and we will be using as our main site for news and updates in the future.

This site will continue to run alongside the other site, and will provide extra content such as blogs, videos and photos etc, and will be more informal than the main website. For the next couple of weeks we will be posting to both sites so you don’t miss out on any content by not visiting the other site, but we recommend you head over and have a look!

As you can see in the picture we have just posted up a video of the session we did for BBC Introducing last Saturday, if you click the picture it will take you to the site where you can hear the interview and acoustic track we recorded.

Cheers

Quick Q&A with up and coming band, Likely Lads.

Q- How long have you been together as a band? Have there been any moments where you’ve thought the band isn’t working?
A- Nearly 2 years now, our first gig was in October 2010 and we haven’t looked back since. Yeah there’s been a few moments, we had the decision of whether to go to uni or not, and at one point it looked like one of us might be moving away from York, but we worked through it and we’re still here!

Q- Who or what influences your music?
A- Anything and everything really, it depends what we’re listening to/watching/reading at the time. We listen to pretty much every genre of music between the 4 of us, and we like watching films about music and reading biographies of musicians. There are the obvious great musicians of the past – Beatles, Stones, Smiths, Dylan etc who influence most modern musicians (well, guitar based bands anyway!). Then there’s Oasis and The Jam, then more recently bands like Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Foo Fighters, Miles Kane, and some more that I can’t remember haha.

Q- How did the band come together?
A- We all went to the same school at some point, although Ash and Ross left before I (Ben) started. We all knew Jordan though as so we ended up meeting at house parties and stuff. Ash and Ross went to Leeds Festival 2010 and decided they wanted to set up a band, and they knew I played guitar so they asked me to join, although I ended up on bass for the first practise and Ross was on drums. We decided Ross was going to sing as he was the only one any good at writing lyrics, so he took up bass and singing, I moved to guitar and we got Jordan in on drums…..

So most of you will already know, but we’ve released an album of demos entitled ‘Melrose Yard Demos.

It contains every track we’ve recorded so far, and it’s yours for absolutely free, if you wish.
There is an option to donate some money, if you enjoy it and would like to see us play a show near you at some time soon then please do donate, it’ll all go towards good things!

We hope that you’ll take this album and send it to everyone you know, and tell them to go and like our facebook page where they’ll be able to download more new tunes when we next get out of the studio.

So what you waiting for?  Click the image to go to bandcamp.com where you can download it now.

We’re also thinking of doing a limited number of physical copies, let us know if you’d be interested in them and if we get enough demand we’ll produce a small batch and add them to the store.

Cheers
Ash, Ross, Ben & Jordan x

Pushing the Facebook page!

Posted: January 31, 2012 in Blog, facebook, Free, get involved

We’re trying to get to 5,000 likes by the end of the week for the announcement of the Observations single release date.

To try and help boost this we’re giving away the acoustic version that we recorded live when we did a session for BBC introducing last year.  You can have a listen and download it here.

As I write this we’re on 4,894 likes – so hopefully by midnight we’ll have passed the 4,900 barrier, which means we only need about 25 likes a day to reach the target.  Easily doable!

So if you haven’t already liked the page  (http://facebook.com/likelyladsband) then do that now, and grab yourself a few more free tunes while you’re there.   If you have, then send it to a friend or two that you know appreciates good music and ask them to do the same.

Cheers!
