Interview with WithGuitars.com

A couple of weeks ago we did an interview with the nice people at WithGuitars.com.
Here’s a quick excerpt from the interview and a link to the full article.

“Hailing from York this foursome consisting of Ross McLeod, Ash Harding, Ben Porter, and Jordan Maher have gotten together and formed Likely Lads and have just completed a tour taking their own unique brand of Indie Alternative Rock to eager fans up and down the country. They still have one show to go on 22nd December in Selby at the Riverside but did find the time to take a quick breather and have a chat.

You formed as a band in 2010 how did that come about? Have any of you been members of other bands before that? If so who and what bands?

“We decided to form after Leeds Festival 2010. We are all long time musicians and had worked on various projects and had been in other bands and stuff before, so it seemed like a good idea to get together and make some tunes and have a laugh. It wasn’t anything serious for the first few months, but then we realised people actually thought we were quite good and were coming to listen to the music, not just because they were our friends….”

On the 16th March we’re going to be filming our first official music video for our song ‘Not Too Fussed’! This will include a cast, filming crew, a director and multiple cameras – not a cheap home made job!

We’re going to be filmed playing a live gig, however to make it look authentic we need a crowd of people to play to. That’s where you come in.

We need as many people as possible to come to The Duchess at 10:00 on Friday and take part. This means jumping about, singing along, and generally throwing shapes like you couldn’t care less. The more energy you have the more likely you are to have your moment on screen, so don’t hold back.

As promised above, there will be a spread of free lunch for everyone who comes down, plus tea, coffee and juice for those who dont drink hot drinks. There’ll also be free copies of our album lying about for anyone that wants to take one!

We’re filming from 10 until 4, so if you can’t make it there for 10 then you can still come down during the day, however don’t turn up late just because you want to sleep in because we need to get started right away as there’s a lot to do.

We’d love for you all to be there, it’ll be lots of fun and we’re going to be pushing as hard as we can to put this video everywhere possible, and who knows maybe you’ll see yourself on TV in a couple of months.

THERE IS NO COST AT ALL INVOLVED FOR YOU! Simply turn up, have fun, eat and drink, then leave when you want.

PLEASE BRING PEOPLE WITH YOU!

Here’s a link to the Facebook event for those of you that want it http://www.facebook.com/events/145718068883900/

And please help us spread the word by tweeting/posting about this anywhere you can.  Cheers everyone!

We’re main support for The Rifles when they come to York, and we’ve been given our own guest list so all you lucky fans can get in for half price.

Just leave your name on the Facebook event page, or post your name in the comments section here and you’ll be able to get in for just £6 on the door!  (Regular ticket price, £12.50 +booking fee advanced / £15 on the door)

New Shows Announced

Posted: December 8, 2011 in Live, News, tour, York

We’re happy to announce we’ve booked several new shows for the next few months.

12th December we’re playing a charity gig for the British Heart Foundation at Stereo York.  Only £3 on the door and supports a great cause, all profits to BHF!

We’re playing at The Stone Roses Bar in York on New Years Eve to celebrate the end of a fantastic year, and to get stuck straight into the start of an even better one. It’s free entry so if you’re about make sure you’re there!

We have a hometown headline show at The Duchess on Saturday 14th January, which is going to kickstart our year of playing more shows than ever before, and this will be our biggest hometown headline to date. Definitely not one to be missed.

And finally on Thursday 19th January we’re heading over to Chorley to play at The Swan! Our first time in Chorley so any of you in the surrounding area will be unlucky to miss it.

Ticket links aren’t available yet but will be updated shortly, and will also be posted on the Shows tab, where all of our upcoming gig info can be found. Keep a look out on there as we’re going to be announcing new shows all the time.

We’re currently experimenting with show tracking services to try and get a better way for all of you to find out when we’re playing near you, Bandsintown seems to be working ok, although Eventful only seems to pick up some of our shows, and SongKick doesn’t pick up any at all!   More on this to come once we can get it working.

Also don’t forget the shows we have this month, there’s still a couple of tickets left for the first York Barbican date with Shed Seven, so grab one while you can cos we can’t promise they’ll be available for ever.

More new content coming soon so keep your eyes peeled…
